Germany is leaving the fossil-nuclear energy era behind. To meet the entire energy demand with renewable energies, a massive expansion of installed PV capacity is necessary. Municipalities are key players in the energy transition and essential for effective climate protection. In addition to the expansion of renewable energies, municipal energy management is a crucial component. This term refers to the energy optimization of municipal properties. It includes all measures taken to optimize energy consumption and ensure minimal energy use. Based on real data, energy efficiency can be improved and optimized.
Solar Potential Analysis
We assess the potential of integrated photovoltaics (e.g., rooftop) as well as ground-mounted solar installations at local, regional, and national levels. The calculation of solar energy potential is based on georeferenced data. Using multi-criteria decision analyses, we evaluate factors such as solar radiation, available space, infrastructural conditions, and legal frameworks. Year-round analyses take into account solar irradiation as well as shading from buildings or vegetation. Based on this data, we assess the suitability of available areas and determine both the possible electricity yield and the installable PV capacity.
Energy Analysis
Through energy analyses, we assess the current state of
energy consumption in the properties under investigation and identify
optimization potential. Key aspects include optimizing
existing system technology, increasing the self-consumption rate, and
informing and motivating building users.
The analysis also provides insights into whether additional or potentially
more efficient utilization options for the generated
energy are possible (e.g., charging infrastructure, tenant electricity
models, heating support, virtual power plants, direct marketing).
Energy Data Management
Energy data management includes the analysis, balancing, and visualization of relevant data on energy generation and consumption. Integrating all properties into a centralized online management system enables the recording and detailed analysis of system and consumption data. In addition to providing an overview of all system parameters, these real-time data also offer valuable insights for self-consumption optimization and identifying the need for energy-efficient renovations. System malfunctions or deviations in operating parameters are detected without delay, reducing yield losses. In an annual energy report, we present the development of the energy balance, CO₂ savings, and energy costs.
Project Planning
The procurement of a photovoltaic system for subsequent use by a municipality is a process subject to public procurement regulations. For municipalities, we design photovoltaic systems and prepare comprehensive tender documents in accordance with procurement guidelines (VOB), including detailed descriptions and clear specifications. These planning services help cities and municipalities to efficiently and legally implement the expansion of solar energy.
Implementation
If legally permitted by the procurement process, we obtain offers for individual properties on behalf of the municipality. Incoming offers are reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and technical feasibility. When scheduling the construction phase, we pay special attention to building-specific and usage-related requirements. We oversee the entire process from awarding to completion. Upon request, we provide monitoring and management of municipal installations as a service. In the event of deviations, troubleshooting is initiated immediately, minimizing yield losses. An iterative optimization of operational parameters is an integral part of our service.
